You will learn to lead a pack animal and navigate in our high mountain country.
Most of our trail training will be in the beautiful old growth pine forests adjacent
to Black Butte Ranch.
Indian Ford creek winds thru the area and the lush riparian supports wildflowers and other foliage.
We often see herds of Elk, Mule Deer and packs of Coyotes.
Let us not forget our little furry friends, Chipmunks, Golden Mantle Ground Squirrels,
Pine Squirrels and large Silver Gray Squirrels.
These are beautiful trails enjoyed by all riders.

Going to Gather
During your adventure we will head to the meadows to bring the cattle in.
You will learn how to drive cattle the safe way that avoids stampedes and stress on the animals.
The objective is to keep the cattle from scattering and all heading in the correct direction.
It is a lot harder than it looks.
We will work the cattle back to corrals for a chance to see how your roping skills have come along.
Some riders may find that controlling your horse while throwing a rope can be worrisome and will be allowed to rope from the ground. All ropes will have breakaway catches so no one gets drug thru the cow pies!
You will learn to sort and pen the cattle into separate corrals.
This is always fun and will leave you with lots of stories to tell all your friends.
Don’t forget to take your rope home with you at the end of your adventure!
